"The orotund is not your natural voice" (p 85)
It can be defined as
pompous and bombastic or full in sound; sonorous.
It also appears in J R Watson's Ancient or modern, Ancient and Modern: the Victorian hymn
and the nineteenth century.
"Williams and Chandler were entering this field in different ways. Williams by
stealth, printing translations that no one could sing; Chandler more boldly. In
his orotund preface to Hymns of the Primitive Church he addressed himself to the
Church of England with a kind of heavy playfulness ..."
