Sir Walter Scott (1771-1832) is one of the big ones. The Scotsman invented the historical novel and wrote lots of them. The most famous are Ivanhoe, Rob Roy, The Lady of the Lake, Waverley and The Heart of Midlothian and The Bride of Lammermoor. To have a train station and a football team named after your novels is not bad going. I think Dr Lloyd-Jones was a fan but the novels are not popular today and I must confess to never having finished Ivanhoe or started the others.
