Last Sunday was a bit different in that we had no PA and no accompaniment. In the evening we retreated to the parlour as we were few and it meant less demand on my voice. Lots are sick and many are away at present so numbers were down a little. I decided to preach two one offs - 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 in the morning and Psalm 145:14 in the evening. My eldest son and his family added to the numbers as there are six of them. In the evening it was just the family at first but then four Iranians joined us as they had done last week and then three more showed up, soon making 16 in all and par for the course. The sining wa s alittle hit and miss bith times. This was a rather in between Sunday but I felt I had preached the right messages adn it was good to get back to some sanity in the midst of the long holiday.
The similar phrase 'Worldly Christianity' is one used by Bonhoeffer. It's J Gresham Machen that I want to line up most closely with. See his Christianity and culture here. Having done commentaries on Proverbs (Heavenly Wisdom) and Song of Songs (Heavenly Love), a matching title for Ecclesiastes would be Heavenly Worldliness. For my stance on worldliness, see 3 posts here.
