I was preaching somewhere where I have never preached before on the Lord's Day, in Wellington Chapel in Herefordshire. We went Friday night to a place called Kington where we stayed Friday and Saturday night. We enjoyed the Christmas market in Kington on Saturday morning adn a sixtieth birthday party in Newtown on the Saturday night. Then on the Lord's Day I preached in Wellington on John 5:28, 29 and 1 Peter 5:7. An elder, Mark Gray, led for me in the morning. We had lunch with people from the church in between. On Sunday night we drove back to London. Turing then but a lovely weekend.
The similar phrase 'Worldly Christianity' is one used by Bonhoeffer. It's J Gresham Machen that I want to line up most closely with. See his Christianity and culture here. Having done commentaries on Proverbs (Heavenly Wisdom) and Song of Songs (Heavenly Love), a matching title for Ecclesiastes would be Heavenly Worldliness. For my stance on worldliness, see 3 posts here.
