The similar phrase 'Worldly Christianity' is one used by Bonhoeffer. It's J Gresham Machen that I want to line up most closely with. See his Christianity and culture here. Having done commentaries on Proverbs (Heavenly Wisdom) and Song of Songs (Heavenly Love), a matching title for Ecclesiastes would be Heavenly Worldliness. For my stance on worldliness, see 3 posts here.

Aberystwyth Conference 2024 Session 1 (Evening 1)

It was good to be at the official opening session of this year's Aber Conference last night. Our speaker was Paul Williams, recently retired from ministry in Swindon and now living on Swansea. He preached from the heart from Romans 8:32, with the mainaim of assuring any lacking assurance. It was good to be there. A recording can be found at the EMW YouTube Website
here.

Discouragement in the ministry

I spent much of yesterday in Westminster Baptist Church at the Westminster Fellowship, the ministers' fraternal I attend once a month or so. We had Paul Williams from Swindon speaking. We were the usually twenty or so in attendance. Paul preached helpfully from 2 Corinthians in the morning and we had an hour or so to discuss in the afternoon after prayer and one or two business items. A orivilege to be there.

10 Years in Cranford

It was good to be present with many others this afternoon at Cranford Baptist marking the tenth anniversary of Robin Asgher coming to lead the work there. It was good to see Robin and Muno and other old friends. Chris Bennett preached well on the living, conquering, empowering and commanding Christ. The service was led by Paul Williams from Swindon and Basil Howlett from Reading spoke on behalf of the support group and trust.
