GB Slowly getting better

So I am slowly getting better, as is Eleri, though more slowly than me. Having completely missed Sunday January 7 and Wednesday 10 (taken care of by Eddie) I thought I might at least be there on Sunday 14 but I couldn't even manage that and had to listen to Eddie and James Grimwood from the seminary (both excellent) online. Eleri went in the morning but had to go out twice coughing. I am not due to preach next Sunday anyway.

Day Off Week 45 2022

I was still ill last Monday (not quite there even now by the end of the week) but as I tried to get back to normal I took my usual Tuesday day off but took time to do one or two things. I watched a film in the morning from the part of history I probably know best. When I went out I picked up the latest Private Eye. My favourite cartoon, I think, was a man in a tie hauled in front of a tieless committee. "We see you are weariing a tie" they say. Also watched University Challenge in the evening (currently being shown on Tuesdays due to rugby league). The latest Free Grace Broadcaster arrived. Very interested to see the title - conscience. An illness

I am conscious that we are a bit behind with things here, which is not unusual but I am also struggling with ill health and so I'm not sure when we will get back up to date. May be I can find things in my drafts folder to tide us over. I've been able to establish that it is not covid and that is a relief. Whether I'd get through covid I'm none too sure, so it's good to be reminded of my mortality. The author of 2 Kings 13:14 has an interesting turn of phrase when he says "Now Elisha had been suffering from the illness from which he died. Jehoash king of Israel went down to see him and wept over him ...." There are illnesses and there are illnesses from which you die. I am thankful that this appears at least to be only an illness like many others I have experienced.

PS I did not realise a covid test will make you retch and sneeze. My ignorance.
