Yesterday started rather wet and people were slow to arrive and there were quite a few missing all told. We looked at the first 13 verses of 1 Corinthians 10 about blessings and sin and temptation. Quite a challenging passage. We had the young people (mostly students) around for lunch which was good. We then had tea at chapel after which I preached from Jonah 2 - Seven lessons on prayer. We were a decent number in the evening. There were one or two visitors in the morning who we hope we will see again. What a privilege to preach God's Word.
The similar phrase 'Worldly Christianity' is one used by Bonhoeffer. It's J Gresham Machen that I want to line up most closely with. See his Christianity and culture here. Having done commentaries on Proverbs (Heavenly Wisdom) and Song of Songs (Heavenly Love), a matching title for Ecclesiastes would be Heavenly Worldliness. For my stance on worldliness, see 3 posts here.
