The similar phrase 'Worldly Christianity' is one used by Bonhoeffer. It's J Gresham Machen that I want to line up most closely with. See his Christianity and culture here. Having done commentaries on Proverbs (Heavenly Wisdom) and Song of Songs (Heavenly Love), a matching title for Ecclesiastes would be Heavenly Worldliness. For my stance on worldliness, see 3 posts here.

Lord's Day January 5 2025

It was nice to have the PA and piano and zoom back on the first Sunday of the new year. We began with a fairly well attended communion (13 I think plus three observers). Numbers were generally down as people still have sickness or are not back from their travels, etc. People came with good news and bad about their situations. I preached a new year text – Hebrews 10:24, 25 – and then in the evening, on John 1:17. Lots of help on that from Alexander Maclaren – not a common go to for me but great on that text. Two young women were there in the evening who had not been able to be there in the morning. Encouraging.
