Preached my final two sermons from Luke yesterday. I have been preaching from Luke since 2023 and have preached over a hundred sermons atogether on this my second run through the third Gospel. Over the years I have preached through the synoptics twice each and John once. So it was the resurrection morning and evening yesterday and communion in the evening.

Lord's Day September 14 2025

We had a fellowship lunch together yesterday in Childs Hill. As last time numbers were fairly small and we were in the parlour. Typically, there was a new Iranian. This one has asylum and has moved into the area recently. The Iranian lady who first came a few weeks ago was back plus six or seven other Iranians, even though two couples are currently travelling. Lot away as ever. I preached on the gospel shoes in the morning (and also spoke to five children present) and on wicked king Ahaz in the evening. A series of errors meant we had no notiice sheets, which we usually have, as below.

Lord's Day August 17 2025

I preached two one offs on the last Lord's Day - on Mark 12:24 and a phrase from Acts 15:9. Great texts. We were well attended in the morning (over 40) and not so bad in the evening (14) but there were only five of us for communion before the evening service. A new Iranian family in the morning and other visitors.

Lord's Day November 28 2021

I wore some new boots Sunday but my heel was rubbing. How distracting. Yet once you're there ready to preach it seems to go out of your mind thankfully. We had a fair number morning and evening. Just a few on zoom. I decided to preach a Proverb in the morning and a Psalm in the evening. So it was a pointed textual sermon from Proverbs 21:2 in the morning and Psalm 144 in the evening and it went okay I thought - interesting, lively. It's getting colder and the news is bleak but God's word continues to go out.
