Once again the family have been very kind. These are from my wife and sons. (One son made sure he didn't buy me a book as he doesn't like to be too predictable, so I had other good things from him.)
The similar phrase 'Worldly Christianity' is one used by Bonhoeffer. It's J Gresham Machen that I want to line up most closely with. See his Christianity and culture here. Having done commentaries on Proverbs (Heavenly Wisdom) and Song of Songs (Heavenly Love), a matching title for Ecclesiastes would be Heavenly Worldliness. For my stance on worldliness, see 3 posts here.

Day Off Week 42
This week's day off was a little different in two ways. Firstly, in that I decided to do some intentional walking. This will be part of my weekly routine from now on I hope. I caught the bus and train to Gospel Oak and walked back to Kenwood House, where I had a coffee then headed home. Also, it was different in that in the evening we were celebrating my esteemed father-in-law's 86th birthday. We had a Chinese take-away and then went to hear Jonathan Thomas at the London Seminary. More on that anon. The rest of my time was mainly taken up with reading a fascinating Magnus Magnusson book on fakers and frauds which I recently found on my bookshelves. More on that too some time.
Birthday Books
One of the joys of a birthday is that kind people buy you books. Above is my haul for this year. Mostly history as you see. I tipped off my wife about the first one and the second is from my first son who has cornered the market in Nazi themes (one of my favourite subjects). I first saw the book on Africa in Kenya and have bought with money kindly given by family.

Day Off Week 41 2022
Last week I took my day off on Saturday as we were all down in Cardiff for the second birthday of my grandson Gruff. We travelled down on Friday and stayed with my son Dyland and bis wife Cat. On Saturday we had a little celebration at my sister-in-law's house for Eleri's dad, fresh back from America, and 84 years old on the day. He's not 100% but isokay for a man of that age. The main event was in the church, a party mainly for Gruff who had turnned two earlier in the week. People from both Dylan and Cat's family were there (loads of kids) including my sister. We had a great time. We then had chips nefore heading back home, arriving around 10 pm.
