I received the brochure for this year's EMW Aberystwyth Conference today. The conference is August 11-18. The main preacher is Ted Donnelly on 'Christ's Church at the Crossroads'. He will give four messages from 1 Corinthians 1:1-2:5, one each morning. The evening speakers are Derrick Adams (the new Welsh minister in Aber), Andy Christofides (St Mellon's Cardiff) Roger Carswell (well known evangelist) James Muldoon (Reading) and Derek Swann (retired and based in Cardiff). There are also afternoon seminars with Stuart Olyott and Meirion Morris (no subjects on my brochure). On the Sunday you can hear my father-in-law Geoff Thomas or Chris Rees (am) and David George (pm).
The similar phrase 'Worldly Christianity' is one used by Bonhoeffer. It's J Gresham Machen that I want to line up most closely with. See his Christianity and culture here. Having done commentaries on Proverbs (Heavenly Wisdom) and Song of Songs (Heavenly Love), a matching title for Ecclesiastes would be Heavenly Worldliness. For my stance on worldliness, see 3 posts here.
