The similar phrase 'Worldly Christianity' is one used by Bonhoeffer. It's J Gresham Machen that I want to line up most closely with. See his Christianity and culture here. Having done commentaries on Proverbs (Heavenly Wisdom) and Song of Songs (Heavenly Love), a matching title for Ecclesiastes would be Heavenly Worldliness. For my stance on worldliness, see 3 posts here.

Phantom of the Open

On holiday with the family. One night many of us enjoyed together the film Phantom of the Open. Based on true events it is a funny and very British film with a good cast (including Mark Rylance and more than one Welshman). An interest in golf is not necessary. We British love to see the loser triumph even if in an unconventional way. The film's message - a common one today - is to follow your dreams. However, it is not that simple. It is somehow balancing Proverbs 12:11 about not chasing fantasies with John 15:19 or Luke 6:26.
