The similar phrase 'Worldly Christianity' is one used by Bonhoeffer. It's J Gresham Machen that I want to line up most closely with. See his Christianity and culture here. Having done commentaries on Proverbs (Heavenly Wisdom) and Song of Songs (Heavenly Love), a matching title for Ecclesiastes would be Heavenly Worldliness. For my stance on worldliness, see 3 posts here.

Day Off Week 29 2020

Things are beginning to get back to normal. Following a reconnoitring trip the day before I found that at our nearby O2 shopping centre a branch of the Soho Coffee Company is not only letting you sit down there but is serving the coffee in China. So I took a copy of a recently purchased novel Human voices by Penelope Fitzgerald and had a good read. In fact the book is such an easy read I had it finished before the day was over. It is the one most like her first Golden Child and features the BBC during the war. it is full of gentle humour and a silvery undertone of sadness punctuated by brilliant turns of phrase from time to time.the novel.
